Electrical Contractor Moves Regional HQ To Pflugerville

Rosendin Electric relocating facilities in Texas and California to a 50,000-square-foot local facility with $3M capital investment.

PFLUGERVILLE, TEXAS — City officials on Thursday announced the regional headquarters relocation of an electrical contractor to Pflugerville in a move that brings 84 jobs into the local economy.

The Pflugerville Community Development Corporation (PCDC) board of directors approved a deal with the electrical contract company Rosendin Electric at their March 20 regular meeting. The company is relocating facilities in Texas and California to a 50,000-square-foot facility in Pflugerville with a $3 million capital investment, officials said. The influx of 80-plus jobs stemming from the move have a minimum average wage of $75,000 annually, officials noted.

“We are pleased to retain Rosendin's regional headquarters in Pflugerville for their expansion and relocation of other services from California," PCDC Executive Director Amy Madison said in a prepared statement. "The company is ranked in the top 1/2 percent gross income within their industry in the country. With this move, they have the opportunity to maintain and increase their dominance in electrical contracting and provide excellent opportunities for our local workforce."

The deal was facilitated with the use of financial inducements. As part of the seven-year Economic Development Performance Agreement, the PCDC will offer a $2,000 grant for each new primary job, up to $20,000 for three years provided they relocate or hire 54 employees in year one and create 10 new primary jobs in years two through four, city officials explained.

Moreover, officials added, Rosendin must retain the new primary jobs created each year, in addition to the 54 newly hired or relocated jobs during the agreement to remain eligible for the $60,000 financial incentive.

John Colley, director of Texas operations for Rosendin, said the dynamics of the city fit well with the company's needs: “Pflugerville was a natural fit for Rosendin – not only is it a great location in proximity to Austin with ease of access to major highways and two airports, but it also supports our goal of attracting the best and brightest,” Colley said. “The opportunity to work in conjunction with the PCDC has been an added bonus. It is exciting when a community demonstrates the welcoming attitude we continually experience from their staff.”

Founded in 1919, Rosendin Electric is one of the nation’s top electrical contractors employing over 6,000 people across 15 regional offices in the United States with a $2.3 billion annual revenue, according to company-provided information. Fully employee-owned since 2000, the company has garnered numerous accolades such as the 2018 Grand Award for Construction Safety Excellence by the Associated General Contractors of America, Top Solar Contractor by Solar Power World and Top Electrical Contractor by Electrical Construction & Maintenance Magazine, officials noted.

Pflugerville City Council members are expected to give final approval for the deal at their March 26 meeting.

Austin Foam Plastic's growth plans are centered on expansion of the company's existing 60,000-square-foot plant by virtue of a $4.7 million investment. The move is expected to create 22 new jobs over the course of five years, officials said.
