Fallen Deputy's Funeral To Take Place Saturday In Pflugerville

Deputy Bryan Pfluger, 36, was on duty last Saturday night when he lost his life while responding to a burglary call.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX - A sheriff's deputy from San Jacinto, northeast of Houston, will be laid to rest in Pflugerville this weekend. Deputy Bryan Pfluger, 36, was on duty last Saturday night when he lost his life while responding to a call.

According to the Sheriffs' Association of Texas, Pfluger collided with another deputy's vehicle in Coldspring while responding to a burglary call. Pfluger, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from his vehicle and transported to a local hospital where he passed from his injuries.

According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, Pfluger was a U.S. Army National Guard veteran. He had served with the San Jacinto County Sheriff's Office for four years and had previously served with the Taylor County Sheriff's Office and Rising Star Police Department.

Pfluger's public viewing will take place at First Baptist Church of Pflugerville, 306 10th St., beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28. Services will begin at 1 p.m.

The Pflugerville Police Department alerted drivers to anticipated traffic delays on Saturday between 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for the services to honor the life of Deputy Brian Pfluger. "Anticipate a heightened police presence in the area, and note that portions of 10th St. and Pfluger St. will be closed," the department posted in a tweet.

Deputy Pfluger is survived by his son, mother, father, sister and brother.
