Felon Tossed Gun Out Car Window During Pflugerville Traffic Stop
With felony record that includes assault/family violence, Mark Dawon Brown, 25, wasn't supposed to even have access to firearms, cops say.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — A man from Austin is accused of allegedly throwing a gun out of his car window recently while police were trying to pull him over for speeding.
Once police caught up with him, they determined the man has a long criminal history and on probation for a conviction of assault involving family violence, KVUE reported. According to police, 25-year-old Mark Dawon Brown was clocked going 60 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour zone along Grand Avenue Parkway at around 1:35 a.m. Nov. 22, according to the report.
During the traffic stop along Strontian Pass, the officer at the scene reported smelling the odor of marijuana emanating from Brown's car. A second arriving officer reported seeing a handgun on the sidewalk next to the vehicle, with a subsequent view of dash camera footage showing the suspect tossing the gun from the car window as he slowed to a stop, according to the affidavit.

Brown was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and tampering/fabricating physical evidence, which are both third-degree felonies.
