Golden Gloves Fighter Accused Of Running Over Pflugerville Woman In His Ferrari

It's the second time Curtis Lee Meeks, 33, is accused of hitting someone with his car following a 2008 case that drew manslaughter charge.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — A national Golden Gloves boxer is accused of hitting a woman with his Ferrari in Pflugerville on Saturday, marking the second time the man has been accused of hitting someone with his car, according to media reports.

Curtis Lee Meeks, 33, has since been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony, KXAN reported. This is the second time the boxer, a Golden Gloves national championship finalist, has been charged since a 2008 deadly incident when he was charged with manslaughter after hitting a 28-year-old man in Austin, according to the Associated Press.

The local incident occurred on Saturday when officers were called to report a disturbance on Canyon Sage Lane in Pflugerville. Police were told that two men involved in the incident later left in a red Ferrari, according to KXAN.

The report indicates several children were in the backseat of their mother's vehicle parked in the driveway when one of their fathers, Tardrick Fowler, 36, started to allegedly punch their mother in an argument over the car keys. Police said the woman had bruising on her face, a busted lip, bloody mouth and scrapes on the palms of her hands.

Tardrick then is said to have fled from the woman's car and climb into the passenger seat of the Ferrari that was waiting nearby. The injured woman is said to have tried to prevent the man from leaving, possibly because he had her car keys, when the Ferrari lurched forward and struck her.

The driver fled the scene after hitting the woman, but the Ferrari was later spotted in the southbound lanes of the 17700 block of southbound State Highway 130 near Pflugerville Parkway about 1.6 miles from the house where the woman was assaulted.

Meeks was subsequently arrested under a $50,000 bond. Citing public records, KXAN reported that Meeks' 2008 manslaughter charge was dismissed to be re-filed as a lesser charge of failure to stop and render aid. He was sentenced to one year of probation before being released two years ago. ESPN reported on the incident following Meeks' previous arrest.

It was unclear what charges were leveled against Fowler over the alleged beating of the woman.
