  1. Although "home sales dropped nationally from November to December as listings became even more scarce," more homes are coming up this month, but according to experts in the real estate industry, "competition among buyers will get even more fierce." Redfin Chief Economist Daryl Fairweather said, "Home sales are slumping, but not for lack of demand." He added, "There are plenty of homebuyers on the hunt, but there is just nothing for sale."   2. On Tuesday, Jan. 18, Kiddie Academy opened a Hutto location at 480 Chris Kelly Blvd. The place is a facility that offers education-focused child care "with curriculum individualized for the needs of different age groups," from ages 6 weeks to 12 years.   3. This cold weather is perfect to cuddle up with a furry pet and the North Austin-Pflugerville area shelters have many animals that are looking for someone to cuddle up with. "According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals, over 6 million companion animals are surrendered or taken in each year by shelters nationwide" and "of those, approximately 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats," but "only around half of all shelter pets are adopted each year," That means that there are many animals looking for "fur-ever" homes.   4. At the end of February, Gateway Church Pflugerville will be moving from its current location at 15436 FM 1825 to 1201 S. He added, "Gateway Church is a multiethnic, come-as-you-are church that loves everyone, life by life."
