Hoopla creator Jeff Jankowski said the service is akin to having round-the-clock access to a virtual librarian. Pflugerville Library Director Jennifer Coffey agreed with the assessment, while noting the cutting-edge technology in play.
“One of the reasons we wanted to go to Hoopla was because DVDs are really a format that will be going away,” she told the Statesman. “You can watch a movie, read a comic, read a book and all through the same application.”
The application is accessible through Amazon, Google Play and the Apple store to iOS and Android users. Hoopla Digital users also are able to access content by visiting the library’s website at www.hoopladigital.com.
It’s a brave new world at Pflugerville for lovers of all manner of streaming. And by most accounts, library patrons are relishing their newfound, technology-fueled freedom.
