Jeff Marsh Wins Runoff Election For Pflugerville City Council Place 2 Seat

Marsh gets 453 votes to Jim McDonald's 359 in runoff staged after no candidate got 50 percent of the vote in Aug. 6 election.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX -- Jeff Marsh on Tuesday won runoff election to secure the vacated City Council Place 2 seat.

The runoff was staged to fill the post vacated by council member Brad Marshall, who stepped down to run for mayor. His unexpired term ends in November of 2017.

Marsh got 453 votes of the total 812 cast. His opponent, Jim McDonald, secured 359 votes.

The runoff election took place because none of the four candidates in a previous special election on Aug. 6 got more than 50 percent of the vote. In that previous election, 869 votes were cast with Marsh getting 370; McDonald, 261; Victor Johnson 138; and Victor To, 100 votes.

Marsh runs his family-run construction business Bolin Steger Homes. McDonald is an IT director and currently serves as vice chair of the Pflugerville Parks and Recreation Commission.

"We did it!" Marsh wrote on his campaign-related Facebook page. "Thank you very much to everyone who supported me by voting, donating to the campaign, and spreading the word to your friends and neighbors!
I could not have done this with out all of your help!"

He also commended his political rival for the manner in which he ran for office: "Finally, I want to congratulate Jim McDonald on a well run campaign!"

Officials posted the following unofficial tabulation for Tuesday's Pflugerville runoff election:

Jim McDonald = 359 votes (Early Voting = 258; Election Day = 101)

Jeff Marsh = 453 votes (Early Voting = 311; Election Day = 142)
Early Voting Votes = 569
Election Day Votes = 243
Total Votes = 812
