Key North Austin Road Slated For Improvements
State, local officials will join the Texas Department of Transportation will break ground on the RM 2222/RM 620 Improvements project.

NORTH AUSTIN, TEXAS — A heavily traveled road in northwest Austin is getting some extra lanes to help with mobility and safety, state transportation officials said Monday.
State and local elected officials will join the Texas Department of Transportation will break ground on the RM 2222/RM 620 Improvements project on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. The project will widen RM 2222 from Bonaventure Drive to Ribelin Ranch Drive, and add a center median with turn lanes within the project limits.
The RM 2222/RM 620 Improvements project is the first of two projects at this intersection, officials noted. Project 1 is expected to be complete by summer 2020, weather permitting. The $23.6 million project is being funded by TxDOT and the city of Austin. Capital Excavation Company is the contractor. Project 2, which is expected to go out to bid this summer, will add a bypass lane from RM 620 to RM 2222.
