Lake Pflugerville April Shooting Resulted From Drug Deal Gone Bad: Police

Updated information reveals details of incident for which five suspects have since been arrested and await trial.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — The April shooting at Lake Pflugerville that left a person injured was the result of a drug deal gone bad, police said on Thursday.

On April 22, Pflugerville police officers responded to a call of shots being fired in the area around the lake. Once there, police found a victim of a gunshot wound who was later taken to the hospital for treatment before being released.

An investigation by the police department's Criminal Investigation Division revealed the shooting stemmed from a narcotics transaction, officials said. Five people have since been arrested in connection to the incident, residing in Pflugerville, Huntsville and Tyler, according to police.

Officials stressed the incident was an isolated one, and no threat to the public is imminent. Police ask residents to report any suspicious activity as they go about enjoying the recreational area.

"This was an isolated incident and residents are encouraged to continue to utilize the great amenities the city offers," officials said in a statment. "It is recommended that residents always remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to the Pflugerville Police Department at 512-251-4004."
