Light Bulb Blamed For Early Morning North Austin House Fire
Firefighters responded to 11400 block of Swearingen Drive near Braker Lane Sunday morning, making quick work of garage fire.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — Firefighters on Sunday pointed to a light bulb as the cause of an early morning house fire in North Austin.
Firefighters responded to the fire call just before 5:30 a.m. along the 11400 block of Swearingen Drive near Braker Lane on Sunday, firefighters wrote on Twitter. Firefighters made quick work of the fire, but it still caused about $2,000 in property and another $1,000 to the structure's contents.
By Sunday afternoon, firefighter were able to ascertain the blaze was sparked by an electrical malfunction. A light bulb was pointed to as the culprit, with fire erupting after it fell on combustible material on the floor.

The cause of this morning’s fire at 11406 Swearingen Drive was electrical. A CFL lightbulb shorted out and dropped into some combustibles on the garage floor. Damage estimates were $2000 structural and $1000 contents. The occupants were able to reoccupy the residence.

No injuries resulted from the fire that took place in the building's garage, and the four occupants were able to remain in the structure without being displaced from their home.
