Little Girl Dies After Procedure At North Austin Dental Clinic
Medical office declines to say what may have caused the girl's death; investigation has been launched.
AUSTIN, TX -- A toddler is dead following a dental procedure at a North Austin clinic, officials at the Travis County medical examiner's office said.
The 14-month-old girl had undergone a procedure at Austin Children's Dentistry on Tuesday morning, the Austin-American Statesman reported. By noon, Daisy Lynn Torres was later pronounced dead at the North Austin Medical Center, a mere two hours following an emergency call to EMS from the dentist's office in the Northwest part of the city, 12501 Hymeadow Drive, according to medical officials.
A medical examiner concluded an autopsy on Wednesday, and the official cause of death is pending.

The newspaper placed a call to the dentist's office seeking to know what the girl's procedure was, but they declined in providing details.
Texas State Board of Dental Examiners officials are now poised to investigate the matter.

“Daisy was a happy baby full of life,” Jessica Castaneda, Daisy’s aunt, told the Statesman. “She had just celebrated Easter with her family. She went to the dentist. Then her mother called me and asked me to pray because something went wrong and they were taking her to the hospital. Next thing we know, we’re planning funeral arrangements.”
The family now is raising money for the little girl's funeral expenses on a GoFundMe page.
The newspaper reports that none of the six dentists listed as working for Austin Children’s Dentistry have been disciplined in Texas for any action before, according to Texas State Board of Dental Examiners records.
The website consulted for any past disciplinary action is the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners database that provides disciplinary records for all dentists, hygienists, assistants and labs practicing in Texas.
