Man Charged With Fleeing Scene Of North Austin Collision
Elieser Samora, 30, told police he ran because he needed to use bathroom while not checking on victim left with severe brain damage.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — A dump truck driver was jailed after fleeing the scene of an accident faces that left a man with severe brain damage.
The incident dates to Monday, but details have only recently emerged via an arrest affidavit. According to the document referenced by the Austin American-Statesman in the report, Elieser Samora, 30, was charged with failure to stop and render aid after the dump truck he was driving collided with a Chevrolet Malibu just after midnight along the 7400 block of Interstate 35, near U.S. 183.
The other driver, a 28-year-old man, sustained severe brain damage in the crash, according to the report. He is currently in critical condition.

An officer happened to be in the area while patrolling a construction site and spotted Samora fleeing the scene, according to the report. Samora is said to have exited the dump truck without checking on the victim, jumped over a concrete wall and tried running into a cluster of trees fronting a state government building, according to the report.
But the building's security officer detained Samora before he was booked into the Travis County Jail. Samora reportedly said he needed to use the restroom as the reason for his fleeing the scene. He remained at the jail as of Wednesday evening on a $50,000 bail. No booking photo was available.
