Man Charged With Murder In North Austin Stabbing

Police accuse Sergio Torres Quesada, 20, of having stabbed Erick Reytor-Ramirez, 35, who died a day after being stabbed in the abdomen.

AUSTIN, TEXAS — Police have identified the victim and suspect in a fatal stabbing that occurred over the weekend.

The incident dates to Sunday, Feb. 24, just before 8:20 p.m. along the 8800 block of North Interstate 35. Police responded to a call about a stabbing at an apartment complex, finding the victim at the scene with a puncture wound to the abdomen. Officer applied pressure to the wound in an effort to control the bleeding until Austin-Travis County EMS medics arrived.

The victim, identified as Erick Reytor-Ramirez, 35, was rushed to Dell Seton Medical Center. Despite efforts to save his life, the man died the following day . The Travis County Medical Examiner subsequently ruled the death a homicide.

Following an investigation, Sergio Torres Quesada, 20, was arrested. On Tuesday, Feb. 26, he was formally charged with murder, police said.

While police continue to investigate, they urge anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS or text "Tip 103" + a message to CRIMES or use the new Crime Stoppers App or email APD Homicide at homcide.apd@austintexas.gov.
