Man Charged With Robbing Woman At Knife Point In North Austin

Rigoberto Rivera-Leon​, 27, allegedly forced himself into woman's vehicle before robbing her at knife point and asking for sex.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX – A man was arrested after allegedly forcing himself into a woman's vehicle on Sunday, robbing her at knife point and demanding sex, according to a published report.

Rigoberto Rivera-Leon, 27, was booked into the Travis County Jail on Sunday on charges of aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping, both first-degree felonies, according to jail records. An arrest affidavit on the incident was filed on Monday, according to police.

The incident occurred along Braker Lane in North Austin around 3:45 a.m. after receiving reports of the robbery. The victim told police she had pulled over to the side of the road in the 10600 block of Lamar Boulevard near Braker Lane to answer a call from her son when Rivera-Leon, who she did not know, got into the passenger seat, pulled a paring knife on her and told her to drive, according to the report.

After the ten-minute drive, the woman pulled into a storage facility about three miles away, and Rivera-Leon grabbed her purse and fled, she told police. She then went across the street to the 7-Eleven to call police. As police were investigating, Rivera-Leon showed up at the gas station and was promptly arrested, according to the report.

Rivera-Leon’s now faces between five to 99 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. He was being held at the jail on $80,000 bail as of Tuesday, according to Travis County Jail records.
