Man Dies In North Austin Home Explosion
FBI, ATF and postal inspectors are aiding in investigation of blast at 1100 block of Haverford Drive but terrorism all but ruled out.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — A man died Friday following a home explosion at a North Austin home.
According to Austin Fire Department officials, the incident occurred shortly before 7 a.m. along the 1100 block of Haverford Drive near Desau Elementary School. Austin-Travis County EMS medics said a man in his 40s was rushed to St. David's Round Rock Medical Center with critical, life-threatening injuries.
The victim died at 7:48 a.m. after arriving at the hospital, Austin Police Department Interim Chief Brian Manley said. He added that no other injuries were reported in the explosion, which occurred on the porch of the residence.

In a subsequent press conference that members of the FBI, ATF and postal inspectors are assisting in the investigation, Manley said it's unclear what may have caused the explosion. But he added the incident does not appear to be terrorist-related. Manley said no suspect has emerged in the case, stressing that the investigation was still in its early stages.
