Police were called to the 1800 block of West Rundberg Lane early Wednesday afternoon where they found a man in distress who later died.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — A young man was fatally shot in North Austin on Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
Emergency crews were called to the Palo Santo Apartments located along the 1800 block of West Rundberg Lane at about twenty minutes before 2 p.m. Once there, police found a man in his 20s in obvious distress, police spokeswoman Destiny Winston told reporters.
A man was detained in the aftermath of the incident, but was not named as a suspect, Winston said. Police are unsure what sparked the incident, but assured residents were not in danger. Police typically use this verbiage to suggest a dispute was limited to an interaction between the victim and perpetrator.
