Man Threatening To Shoot Arrested At The Domain In North Austin
Police SWAT team deploys pepper spray to subdue suspect who threatened to shoot anyone entering a hotel bathroom, although no weapon found.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — A man who threatened to shoot anyone getting near him at a North Austin hotel bathroom was arrested Tuesday morning after a SWAT standoff.
Members of an Austin Police Department SWAT team deployed pepper spray in forcing the man to surrender, and no weapon was found. The man had entered a La Quinta Inn and Suites near The Domain shopping center along the 11900 block of North MoPac Boulevard (Loop 1) near Duval Road. just before 5:30 a.m. before entering a bathroom in the lobby while threatening to shoot anyone entering the facility.
Police later said the man was not a hotel guest and was in the throes of either a mental health crisis or drug-induced episode.

The episode prompted something of a lock-down mode to be implemented, with patrons and hotel guests kept from entering or leaving some floors of the mixed-use development. No injuries were reported.
