Missing Man In Wheelchair Found Safe In North Austin

Gabriel Salazar, 46, had last been seen at around 5 p.m. along the 100o block of Bird Creek Drive on Monday evening, police said.

Update: Gabriel Salazar, 46, was found safe after prompting a search when he went missing. Police issued an update on Tuesday to report he was back with his family after having gone missing in North Austin on Monday evening.

AUSTIN, TX — Austin Police on Tuesday asked for help from the public in locating a missing man last seen in his electric wheelchair in North Austin the previous evening.

Gabriel Salazar, 46, was last seen at around 5 p.m. along the 100o block of Bird Creek Drive on Monday, police said in an emailed advisory. Police noted Salazar has preexisting medical conditions that heighten concern for his well-being.

Salazar is described as a Asian-Hispanic who is five feet, eight inches tall, 175 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Police released photos of him in the hopes someone might recognize him and alert as to his whereabouts.Photo via Austin Police Deparment circa 2002.
