Police ID Victim Of Deadly MoPac Motorcycle Crash Car In North Austin [UPDATED]
Stephen Crowell, Jr., 32, died after his Harley Davidson motorcycle clipped a vehicle traveling along the same lane of traffic.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX -- Police on Monday disclosed the identity of the motorcyclist killed after hitting a vehicle in last September.
Stephen Crowell, Jr., 32, died after his Harley Davidson motorcycle collided with a GMC Yukon along the 5100 block of North MoPac Expressway southbound, according to the Austin Police Deparment. Police originally said the man was in his 40s, but he was significantly younger.
According to a preliminary police investigation, both vehicles were southbound on MoPac on the same lane when the motorcycle struck the left rear bumper of the Yukon. The impact caused the bike to slide toward the left side of the roadway and the Yukon to strike the guardrail.

The incident occurred on Sept. 28 at 2:15 a.m., police said.
Crowell was pronounced dead at the scene. Based on the strong odor of alcohol emitting from the motorcyclist's mouth, police said they suspect alcohol consumption may have contributed to his demise.

Police said the death represented Austin’s 52nd fatal traffic crash and the 53rd fatality of 2016. At this time in 2015, police noted, there were 81 traffic fatalities in Austin.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX -- A motorcyclist in his 4os died early Wednesday morning after colliding with a vehicle in North Austin, police said.
The collision occurred in the 5100 block of North Mopac Expressway at 2:15 a.m., according to Austin-Travis County EMS officials. Police later staged a spontaneous news conference near the site of the accident, but added no further details.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, EMS officials said. It was unknown if he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The stretch of highway where the accident happened was closed to traffic while police investigated the scene. A police spokesman said it was unclear what may have caused the early morning crash.
