Motorcyclist Dies In North Austin Collision

Two men in their 30s were injured in crash along 6600 block of East Howard Lane, one of them later succumbing to his injuries.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — A motorcyclist died Wednesday evening following a collision in North Austin.

The incident occurred just before 7:30 p.m. along the 6600 block of East Howard Lane near the intersection with Dessau Road, according to Austin-Travis County EMS medics. The incident involved three motorcycles, a police officer told reporters in a subsequent press conference.

One of the motorcyclists lost control of his bike before hitting a curb, causing him to be ejected from the vehicle. Police reported the man, estimated to be between 35 and 36 years old, later died as a result of his injuries. The man succumbing to his injuries was not wearing a helmet at the time of his death, police said.

Police said a second motorcyclist also lost control of his vehicle, sustaining serious injuries.

It's unclear if alcohol consumption played a role in the dual crashes, the police officer said. The two injured motorcyclists were rushed to St. David's Round Rock Medical Center in the aftermath of the crash, medics aid via Twitter. The other injured man also is in his 30s, police said.
