Motorcyclist Killed After Hitting Parked Car In North Austin

Alejandro Aguilera, 40, was driving his motorcycle in a parking lot when he struck a parked car before being ejected without a helmet.

AUSTIN, TX — Police on Wednesday identified the motorcyclist who was killed after colliding with a parked car in North Austin earlier this month.

The incident dates to Saturday, Feb. 8, just before 7 p.m. at the northbound service road along 6603 North Interstate 35, police said in a press advisory. An investigation found the crash victim was driving a gray, 2019 Yamaha MT-09 motorcycle in the parking lot of a Studio 6 motel when he struck an unoccupied black, 2011 Nissan Sentra that was parked.

The motorcyclist, identified as Alejandro Aguilera, 40, was not wearing a helmet when he was ejected from the bike. He was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries a week later on Feb. 15.

The incident marked the 18th fatal traffic crash of 2020 in Austin so far this year, police said, resulting in 19 fatalities this year. At this time in 2019, police added, there were six traffic fatalities.
