Motorists Near Heatherwilde Boulevard Should Expect Delays Next Week

The road is being expanded from two lanes to four, with an expected 2017 completion.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX -- City officials are reminding motorists to expect delays if near Heatherwilde Boulevard next week during a roadway widening project.

Reconstruction on the artery begins Feb. 8 in order to widen the street from a two-lane street to a four-lane divided roadway. Its new features will include raised medians, turn lanes, drainage improvements, pedestrian facilities and a signal at connecting Kingston Lacy Boulevard.

City officials note on the municipal website that the project will begin with installation of temporary lanes on the west side of the street for use during street construction. Concurrently, the Kingston Lacy traffic signal will be installed.

The temporary lanes will allow for two-way traffic, both northbound and southbound for the duration or road reconstruction. Access to businesses fronting the road and adjacent properties will remain open during road construction, city officials said.

Nearby road closures related to the Heatherwilde project will occur at Great Basin Avenue and Wilke Ridge Lane during the initial construction phase, officials noted.

The $6.7 million road project is being funded through the 2014 Transportation Bond formerly approved by voters. The project is expected to be completed by 2017.
