Newborn Found In Dumpster At North Austin Apartment Complex
Infant with umbilical cord still attached transported to hospital in critical condition after being found Wednesday morning.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — A newborn was found in a North Austin dumpster Wednesday morning before being rushed to the hospital in critical condition, according to reports.
The infant girl was found at the Mira Vista Apartments, 9601 Middle Fiskville Rd., after a passerby called police just before 7 a.m. after spotting the baby, KXAN reported. Another witness told the news station the infant sill had the umbilical cord attached.
The witness told the news station she was readying to take her daughter to school when she spotted a man at the dumpster, according to the news station. The man asked her the name of the apartment complex before alerting her to the infant's presence inside the dumpster, she told the news station.

The child reportedly was transported to Dell Children's Medical Center in critical condition. The Child Abuse Unit at the Austin Police Department is now investigating the case.
