North Austin Apartment Damaged By Fire Sparked In Microwave Oven
No one was injured, but the blaze caused $15,000 in structure damage, another $5,000 for destroyed contents and displaced the tenant.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — A Northwest Austin fire that started in a microwave oven has left a resident displaced and $20,000 worth of damage, firefighters said.
The fire that began in the microwave spread to nearby cabinets at an apartment in the 7800 block of San Felipe Boulevard, firefighters told the Austin American-Statesman. The fire ultimately caused about $15,000 in structure damage and another $5,000 in damage the contents of the unit.
Nobody was injured as a result, but the tenant was displaced and now temporarily staying with friends, firefighters told the newspaper. Other tenants of the apartment building were briefly evacuated as firefighters fought the blaze before being allowed back into their homes.
