North Austin Bank Branch Robbed

Wells Fargo located along 11200 block of Interstate 35 near Braker Lane was held up at around 4:30 p.m., and suspect eluded capture.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — A North Austin bank branch was robbed Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The Wells Fargo branch along the 11200 block of Interstate 35 near Braker Lane was held up at around 4:30 p.m., police said during a press briefing.

Police said the suspect presented a note to a teller in demanding cash, although he didn't display a weapon. After securing the money, the suspect fled on foot. No injuries were reported.

The incident marked the 16th bank robbery in Austin so far this year, according to police.
