North Austin Fire Displaces Dozens Of Residents
Blaze at apartment complex along 1900 block of East Anderson Lane believed to have started in attic from faulty air conditioning system.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — A New Year's Day fire displaced a dozen residents, fire officials said.
The blaze occurred at the Avesta Agave apartment complex at 1901 E. Anderson Lane at about 9:45 a.m. on Jan. 1. The fire was some 30 minutes later, leading to the displacement of several residents.
Fire officials attribute the conflagration that started in an attic to a faulty air conditioning system. The fire caused damage estimated at $90,000. Red Cross officials assisted displaced residents find temporary lodging while repairs are made to the complex.
