North Austin HEB Set To Reopen After Fire

Fire sparked by an electrical short just past midnight on Sunday caused damage to desk, extensive smoke damage to pharmacy.

AUSTIN — A North Austin HEB store was closed Monday after a fire that broke out there late Sunday.

Austin Fire Department officials responded to the fire just after midnight at 10710 Research Blvd. Store officials said the store will be reopened Tuesday.

"We apologize for the temporary inconvenience the minor fire in the HEB #17 pharmacy department located at 10810 Research Blvd. has caused our loyal customers," grocery store officials said in a statement.

Fire officials said the cause of the fire was accidental, sparked by an electrical short in the power source of a computer. The fire caused damage to the desk where the computer was stationed and extensive smoke damage ot the pharmacy.

Pharmacy customers can call (512) 794-8227 to re-route their prescription to any of the four nearby HEB pharmacies. Customers may also reach out to any other store pharmacy to have their prescription transferred temporarily for pick-up Monday.
