North Austin Power Outages Leave More Than 2K Without Electricity

Amid substantial rainfall, area around Parmer Lane and Amberglen Boulevard and Metric Boulevard near Rundberg Lane lose power.

NORTH AUSTIN, TEXAS — Power was restored to about 2,000 homes in North Austin late Monday morning after a damaged utility pole was replaced, officials said.

The outage occurred at around 8 a.m. when the pole was damaged in the area around Parmer Lane and Amberglen Boulevard in northwest Austin — leaving some 2,000 customers without electricity for a couple of hours — utility officials said via Twitter. A separate outage along Metric Boulevard near Rundberg Lane in North Austin also was restored, Austin Energy officials said.

While it's unclear what caused the pole to be damaged, the outages came amid a steady stream of rainfall on Monday in the Austin area. Depending on location, the region has received moderate to heavy rainfall on Monday after previous recent days of substantive rain.
