North Austin Road To Close For Water Line Repair

AUSTIN, TX — A North Ausin road will be closed to accommodate repair work on a water line next week, officials said.
Austin Water utility crews are scheduled to launch a project to repair a 48-inch water line along Mt. Bonnell Rd between Waters Edge Drive and Mt. Bonnell Dr. on Monday, April 27. Due to the size and location of the water line, this segment of the road will be fully closed to traffic during construction, officials said in a news release.
Motorists will have to detour around the construction zone during the work, officials said, and are urged to exercise caution when driving in this area. The project is expected to take about two weeks to complete, depending on weather conditions, utility officials added.

Officials explained that pipeline testing has shown the section of the 48-inch water transmission line is likely leaking. However, officials added, utility customers should not experience an interruption to their water service during the project.
"Austin Water recognizes this detour will be inconvenient for many neighbors," officials wrote in a prepared statement. "We are working to complete the project as quickly as possible and appreciate your understanding."
