Man Dead After North Austin Shooting (Updated)
Police found Jonathan David Rogers, 23, mortally wounded Friday night near Cook Elementary School off Rundberg Lane late Friday night.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — Police on Saturday identified the victim of a fatal shooting the previous night in North Austin.
The incident occurred on Friday, Aug. 24, just before 10:30 p.m. along the 1600 block of Mearns Meadow Boulevard. There, police found Jonathan David Rogers, 23, on the sidewalk with obvious signs of trauma throughout his body, law enforcement officials said.
Rogers was rushed to Dell Seton University Medical Center at the University of Texas where he succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced dead at 11:13 p.m., police said in a press advisory.

Police have since located and interviewed witnesses as their investigation continues. To that end, homicide detectives ask anyone who may have information about this incident to call the Homicide Tip Line at (512) 477-3588, Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS, text "Tip 103" + the tip to CRIMES or use the new Crime Stoppers App. Those with informaition also can submit tips by downloading APD’s mobile app, Austin PD, for free on iPhone and Android.
Police note that tipsters can remain anonymous if they prefer. Crime Stopper is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for Rogers' death. The incident marked the 22nd murder to happen in Austin so far this year, police noted.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — A man sustained critical injuries after being shot in North Austin late Friday as police continue to search for a suspect.
An officer who spoke to reporters said police received calls just after 10 p.m. Friday about a shooting in the 1600 block of Mearns Meadow Boulevard, near Cook Elementary School off Rundberg Lane. In a tweet, Austin-Travis County EMS medics said they transported a man in his 20s to Dell Seton Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound.
Medics categorized the victim's wounds as critical and potentially life-threatening.
Police noted that the incident appears to have been isolated, the confrontation limited to the individuals involved, and no threat to the public at large lingers. However, the officer who spoke to reporters said residents should remain vigilant and contact them if they have information that might aid in their investigation.
