Ending Community Homelessness Coalition (ECHO) officials to be joined by Mayor Steve Adler and others in revealing initiative on Tuesday.

AUSTIN, TX — Ending Community Homelessness Coalition (ECHO) officials on Tuesday are scheduled to join key stakeholders, business representatives and government leaders in sharing what they say is a a bold plan to end homelessness in Austin.

The Austin City Council endorsed the Action Plan to End Homelessness in April of this year. The aim of the initiative is to increase the outflow of persons exiting homelessness and decrease the inflow of person becoming homeless by expanding our system capacity, officials said.

According to an ECHO press advisory, a five-point plan has been developed that includes components such as outreach and shelter and housing and support services to reach more homeless people in Austin – including an end to youth homelessness by 2020. At Tuesday’s meeting officials will discuss the support and funding that will be needed to create this community-wide system and address homelessness in Austin, officials said.
