Woman Dies In Two-Vehicle Pflugerville Wreck (Updated)

PFLUGERVILLE, TEXAS — A woman died in a two-car traffic collision in Pflugerville on Thursday morning, police said, prompting street closures as investigators analyzed the crash site into early afternoon.
The wreck occurred at FM 685 and Old Austin Hutto Road at around 10:55 a.m. A 62-year-old occupant of one of the vehicles succumbed to her injuries, and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a police advisory. Three other vehicle occupants were transported to area hospitals with undetermined injuries, a police spokeswoman conveyed in a press advisory.
According to a preliminary police investigation, the crash occurred when a southbound vehicle on FM 685 attempted to turn east onto Old Austin Hutto Road and collided with a northbound vehicle. The accident is still under investigation, police added, and Old Austin Hutto Rd will be closed for some time.

As of early Thursday afternoon, northbound and southbound FM 685 was limited to one lane in each direction. In the immediate aftermath of the wreck, the entire roadway at the crash site was closed as officers investigated.
Police noted the incident marked the second fatality collision this year.
