Police ID Woman Killed After Being Intentionally Struck By Car After North Austin Weekend Party [UPDATED]

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — Police on Monday identified the woman who was killed after being intentionally by a car at a North Austin apartment complex parking lot, revealing that the culprit returned after the first strike to run over the woman again as she was on the ground injured.

The incident occurred on Feb. 5 just minutes from 3 a.m. at 9049 Galewood Dr. in North Austin. Police identified the dead woman as Ernestina Limon-Ocana, 35. By the time Austin-Travis County EMS medics arrived to the scene, the woman was dead and other female victim was suffering from traumatic injuries who was transported to University Medical Center Brackenridge.

According to a preliminary police investigation, the driver of the car had gotten into an argument wit ha group of people. During the encounter, he revved up the car's engine, put it in reverse and then accelerated. It was then he struck one of the women in the group before speeding off at a high rate of speed.

About one minute later, while the injured woman was being tended to by others in the group, the driver returned at a high rate of speed and struck the woman again as well as the second victim. The driver sped away, but one of the witnesses snapped cell phone images of the car and license plate that had been taken before the first woman was struck.

Police have since traced the plates and are looking for the culprit, according to a news advisory. The injured woman is expected to recover from her injuries.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — A woman was killed and another injured after a vehicle struck them both as they were leaving a party at a North Austin apartment complex early Sunday.

The incident occurred at an apartment complex off Galewood Drive near U.S. 183 just before 3 a.m.

Police said a woman in her 30 was killed and another critically injured in the incident. The injured woman was rushed to Brackenridge Medical Center for treatment, where she remains in critical condition.

Police are investigating the hit-and-run fatality as a "suspicious death."
