Pedestrian Killed When Trying To Cross I-35 Identified
Aric Maxwell, 46, tried crossing highway on Sunday, April 21, but was hit by a car and died upon arriving at the hospital for treatment.
NORTH AUSTIN, TX — Police on Tuesday identified the man killed two days before as he tried crossing Interstate 35 and got struck by a vehicle.
The incident occurred at around 10:40 a.m. on Sunday, April 21, along the 5300 block of North Interstate 35 southbound. A preliminary police investigation showed that the pedestrian attempting to cross the highway from westbound to eastbound was struck by a silver, 2016 Chevrolet Equinox that was traveling southbound in the inside lane.
The man who was hit, Aric Maxwell, 46, was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center where he died a short time later. The driver showed no signs of impairment, police said, and no charges are expected to be filed.

The incident marked Austin’s 22nd fatal traffic crash of 2019, resulting in 23 fatalities so far this year. At this time in 2018, police added, there were 19 fatal traffic crashes and 20 traffic fatalities.
