Pflugerville Is Among Nation's Best Places To Live, Money Magazine Says

Quality of life, connectivity and financial state all cited as attributes that helped lift city to the 12th position among cities its size.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX -- Money magazine has named Pflugerville the 12th best place to live in the U.S. among towns of its size.

The city was matched against other cities with populations between 50,000 and 300,000 residents. Pflugerville was just one of two Texas cities to make the top 15 cities on the Money Magazine’s “Best Places to Live” list for 2016. The Dallas suburb of Plano was in the third slot.

Taking the two top spots were Columbia, Md. and Eden Prairie, Minn.

City officials were in a celebratory mood over the strong showing, with spokeswoman Terri Toledo telling the Austin American-Statesman it was the first time the city had broken into the top 15 on the cities list. Mayor Jeff Coleman added the ranking validates the city's highly touted quality of life.

“(The ranking) validates what our citizens know, which it is a great community to live in,” he told the Austin American-Statesman. “It allows us to be proud and to market our community to potential businesses and residents.”

Among the dynamics touted by Money magazine was the city's connectivity, housing, financial state and quality of life compared with other cities nationwide, city officials said. The city's German-heritage festivas -- dubbed "pfests" in both a play on words on the city name and a nod to its founding roots -- were mentioned in the compilation.

Toledo noted the city's steady climb in the ranks over the yeas. She told the Statesman the city was ranked 44th in the magazines "America's Top 50 Small Towns" list in 2013 and 20th ranked in the "Best Places to Live" list the following year.
