PFLUGERVILLE, TX — The Pflugerville Police Department's second in command, Assistant Chief Jim McLean, announced on Tuesday he plans to retire at the end of the month after nearly a quarter-century of service.

He climbed the ranks from sergeant in 1997 to lieutenant in 2001 and captain in 2001. He was named assistant chief in 2007.
Early in his career, McLean patrolled the streets of Pflugerville as a K-9 officer with his trusty canine companion, Armor. He is a graduate of the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas – LEMIT, and was named Officer of the Year in 1997.
