Pflugerville City Manager Abruptly Steps Down To Take Another Job

On Friday, Brandon Wade sent a letter to city officials saying he was stepping down in order to take job at an area water utility.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — Pflugerville City Manager Brandon Wade has resigned his position with the city to accept a job at an area water utility, officials said Friday.

Wade told city officials on Friday that he's accepted a position at the Gulf Coast Water Authority, which provides water for industry, agriculture and municipalities in Brazoria, Fort Bend and Galveston counties — including to more than 185,000 customers in Galveston County alone, according to information found on its website.

“Over the last eight years I have proudly served the City of Pflugerville, city council and our residents, and am deeply moved by the trust and confidence given in me to serve the community,” Wade said in a prepared statement. “It takes an extraordinary opportunity for me to leave Pflugerville, as I have proudly worked to bring innovative change to the community and continually move the city forward under the guidance of our City Council. I am thankful to have received the opportunity to serve you, and I look forward to this new position where I will be helping to provide water to cities and industries in Galveston County, Brazoria County and Fort Bend County area.”

Wade joined the city of Pflugerville in January 2010 as city manager, seeing the population of the city grow by nearly 20,000 residents to its current 60,000 during his tenure. On his watch, the city has been ranked four times in the top 100 places to live by Money magazine.

Prior to arriving at Pflugerville, Wade served as deputy city manager for Galveston in his 32-year career in city government. He's also worked for several other Texas cities, including Galveston, Alvin, Richland Hills and Dallas where he held a variety of positions.

Wade earned a master’s degree in Public Administration- Urban Management from the University of Houston and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech University. Council members are scheduled to discuss the search for a new city manager at their Jan. 9 meeting.
