Pflugerville Communications Department Wins Awards
City unit snags stops honors for its community outreach efforts in marketing, video production, social media and events.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — The city's Communications Department was recognized by both the City-County Communications and Marketing Association and the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers Association this summer for its efforts in marketing, video production, social media and events, officials said this week.
At TAMIO’s annual conference in June, Pflugerville was awarded two first-place TAMIs, one second-place Award of Excellence and two third-place Award of Honors for a variety of projects. On Sept. 5, 3CMA awarded Pflugerville with one second-place Silver Circle Award and one third-place Award of Excellence for achievements in video production and events.

Pflugerville’s PfunTX tourism brochure placed first in Special Publication (population under 100,000) at TAMIO’s conference. Judges commented that not only was the design beautiful and showcases the city well, but with its map and interactive elements, this brochure is a useful piece. Pick up one today at City events and facilities.
The Pflugerville Police Department’s Recruitment video received first-place in TAMIO’s Educational Public Service Announcement (population under 80,000) category. This video took a different approach than other police recruitment videos, showing their role in the community and has a strong and personal call to action.

Second place awards
Pflugerville’s Pfall Chili Pfest was recognized by both 3CMA and TAMIO with second-place awards for Best Recurring Special Event (population under 99,000 and 100,000, respectively). In their feedback, judges from both organizations commented they loved this event.
Third place awards
The city’s #NationalGrammarDay video showing the proper use of the Pf placed third at 3CMA’s conference in the Best Use of Humor category. The communications team was complimented for creating fun, timely and responsive content.
Pflugerville Police’s Critical Conversations video, highlighting the resources available to officers dealing with the emotional burdens of police work, received third place in TAMIO’s Special or One-Time Program category (population between 50,000-100,000). Special recognition went to communications staff for the heart, dedication and superior editing that went into creating this powerful message.
The city’s National Tattoo Day post on the Library’s Facebook page placed third for Best Planned Use of Social Media (population under 100,000). On National Tattoo Day, Library staff gave book recommendations to anyone who shared a photo of their tattoo. Judges commented that this was a creative and unique idea that provided a fun service to library patrons.
