Pflugerville Costco Store Set For July 26 Opening (Updated)

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — Costco officials have confirmed the date for the opening of the Pflugerville warehouse location: It's July 26.

Patch reached out to Costco officials to find out the opening date, and it was confirmed in an emailed reply. The 150,000-square-foot retail, restaurant and warehouse space is located at 1901 Kelly Lane at the souteast corner of Texas 130 and Kelly Lane.

Company officials said the Pflugerville Costco store also will feature an adjacent gas station and such offerings as a bakery, deli, food court, hearing aid center, optical department, pharmacy and tire center.

“We are thrilled to be bringing Costco’s low warehouse prices to the residents of Pflugerville,” warehouse manager Scott Woods said in a press release. “They have been asking us to open here for a long time, and we already have made an impact on the local job market. We look forward to contributing to the community in many ways.”

For Costco fans in Pflugerville and North Austin, the upcoming grand opening is cause for local excitement. On a Facebook event page for the store opening starting at 9 a.m. next Thursday, some 1,000 people have indicated they will attend the opening with another 5,400 indicating an interest in attending the event.

"Be prepared to shop when the warehouse doors open!" the event page administrator wrote with palpalbe excitement. "Sign up for a Costco membership at the Pflugerville location at 1901 Kelly Ln, Pflugerville, TX. New members who sign up for a Costco membership at the Pflugerville location can receive a special offer until August 31, 2018."

That special offer are $10 cash cards for signing up for a membership, $20 for an executive membership, according to Costco officials.

The Costco coming is long in the making, the result of negotiations and corporate incentives crafted by council members and economic development officials to land the store.

The store is is Costco’s 30th warehouse location in Texas from a total of 525 stores across the U.S. Once open, local Costco fans will save themselves the 18-mile trek on which they've had to embark to reach the nearest membership-based warehouse store in Cedar Park or the 20-mile journey to the Southwest Austin site.

As many already know, Costco is known for offering food in bulk quantities, much of it via its Kirkland signature product brand (year supply of cooking spray for under $5 anyone?). Paeans have been written on the Costco bounty, as evidenced by a website dubbed 19 Unbeatable Deals You Can Only Find At Costco.

But wait, there's more: In addition to food, Costco offers apparel, appliances, automotive supplies, beer/wine, furniture, hardware, sporting goods, television and audio equipment and more.

Three types of membership levels are offered: Executive, Business and Gold Star. Membership for the latter two categories is $60 for a year, and the top "Executive" level costs members $120 for the same time period.
