Pflugerville Council Candidate's Residency Status Questioned
Adeline Bui claims to reside locally, but owns $700K house in Leander, registered to vote in Austin and has kids at other school districts.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — Some residents are questioning whether a candidate for city council actually lives within the city limits, according to a published report.
Adeline Bui owns a home assessed at more than $700,000 in Leander, giving rise to questions on her residency status — doubts heightened given a homestead exemption she secured for the property following her divorce. But Bui claims she's since moved to Pflugerville where she's spent many years, she told Fox 7.
“That homestead I kept, because my family's still there," Bui told the news station. "With all the properties that I have, I don't plan on a homestead anywhere else.”

Pflugerville resident Larry Paseornek doesn't buy it: "“She is the primary resident, she is the one holding the exemption in Leander which means she is not a Pflugerville citizen,” he told the station.
Then there's the matter of her children's school attendance, with Bui acknowledging they've attended school at various jurisdictions: “My children are in the Round Rock school district," she acknowledged in the interview. "They were in Leander, they were in Pflugerville, now they're in Round Rock. They're all over the place. We work with what we have."

And then there's her voting record. Bui acknowledged having registered to vote in Travis County shortly before filling out the forms to run for city council. But Bui pleaded ignorance on the matter, saying she didn't know the protocol for the registration process.
“It never dawned on me, voting or anything like that because it wasn't something I thought about or gave a second thought,” she told the news station.
The Pflugerville City Council election is scheduled Nov. 7.
