In Pflugerville, Every Day Is Earth Day
City officials outline various measures they take each day to promote awareness of the environment.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX -- Today may be Earth Day, but city officials say the spirit of the day is present year-round in Pflugerville.
The first Earth Day was celebrated in 1970 as a way of promoting environmental issues. Pflugerville officials outlined various ways they do their part, every day:
- Keeping our lakes clean via the Stormwater Management Program with campaigns like the Doody Patrol.• Hosting an annual Drop by Drop Rebate Program which encourages low water use landscaping.
- Selling Rain Barrels at lower costs to help collect rain water for reuse.• Designing a Girl Scout Water Conservation Patch to teach children about water conservation.
- Recycling both curbside and at the Recycle Center • Hosting an annual Clean Up Day
- Growing plants in the community garden• Maintaining and expanding the not-talked-about enough Pflugerville Parks System and more than 30 miles of connected trails.
- Offering a yearround medicine drop-off at the Pflugerville Police Dispatch office to keep old medicine from being flushed into the water supply. • Using renewable energy at Heritage Park, home of the state-recognized renewable energy project known as the Green Red Barn with the environmentally-minded Pfarmer's Market.
- Powering the Pflugerville water plant and recreation center in part with solar panels.
"In Pflugerville, the city does some great things for the environment to make Earth Day, every day," Pflugerville officials wrote on the municipal website.
