Pflugerville Firefighters Battle Tire Plant Blaze

Added fire crews from Austin had to be dispatched to help fight the fire given its inaccessibility and number of tires involved.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — Firefighters battled a blaze at a tire shop for more than an hour on Thursday.

Pflugerville Fire Department crews responded to the structure fire at GCR Tires and Services, 2939 W. Pecan St. near Interstate 35, at about a quarter past 4 p.m. before enlisting help from the Austin Fire Department given difficulty in accessing the building, as the Austin American-Statesman reported.

The fire was further exacerbated given the large number of tires involved, fire officials said via Twitter. At the height of the conflagration, the tire plant fire sparked traffic delays in the area, according to reports.
