Pflugerville Holiday Traffic Initiative Aims For Safer Roads
'Operation Safe Travels' kicked off on Friday, Dec. 7 and runs through Jan. 1, 2019, with bolstered police presence at key intersections.

PFLUGERVILLE, TEXAS — Police have initiated their targeted traffic enforcement holiday campaign dubbed "Operation Safe Travels" that aims to reduce collisions that can lead to loss of life and damage to property, officials said on Friday.
As a result, from Dec. 7 through Jan. 1, 2019, motorists can expect to see bolstered police presence at the top three intersections identified as historically having the most collisions:
- East Pecan Street and FM 685.
- Kelly Lane and FM 685.
- North Heatherwilde Boulevard and Wilke Lane.
This campaign also will target the FM 685/Stone Hill Town Center corridor, police added.

The primary causes for collisions at these intersections have been identified as following too closely/failing to control speed; failing to yield the right-of-way turning left; and driver inattention.
"The Pflugerville Police Department reminds residents to leave themselves plenty of time to travel to their destinations, focus on the roadway at all times and slow down so they can safely enjoy the spirit of the season," police wrote in their advisory.
