Pflugerville ISD Seeks Public's Help In Naming Two Facilities

A developing stadium set to open next year and an agriculture facility need names, and you can help.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX -- Pflugerville ISD officials are asking for the public’s help in naming their new district athletic stadium scheduled to open next year. Also, the public is invited to help name an agricultural barn near the Cele Middle School campus.

The call for naming entries was made on the school district’s website. Nominations for names can be done electronically, and will then be submitted to the district board of trustees for final approval.

“We feel parent and community engagement is important to the process of naming Pflugerville ISD facilities as they belong to the communities they serve,” district superintendent Alex Torrez said in a prepared statement.. “I invite our parents and community members to help us select names that will reflect the proud history of Pflugerville ISD.”

The district stadium was built with proceeds of a voter-approved 2014 bond issuance. The facility will house district-wide competition for football, soccer, band and related events. For its part, the ag barn was built in 2007.

There are parameters to naming both structures. District officials said building names typically honor historical, geographical or community sites; significant individuals or families; or prominent state or national figures.
