Pflugerville ISD To Unveil Computer Science Academy Of Innovation Starting Next Year

The specialized training will enable students to learn about the computer industry, including cybersecurity, gaming design and programming.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — Pflugerville ISD officials plan to create a Computer Science Academy of Innovation at Connally High School in 2017, according to school officials.

The specialized academy will focus on various aspects of the computer industry, including cybersecurity, game design and programming. To achieve real-world experience, students will work with IBM and its Bluemix platform. Students also will participate in an internship or lab-based practicum in their senior year of the four-year program, according to district officials.

While academy students will graduate with their fellow Connally High School classmates, they will secure the science, technology, engineering and math endorsement along with the business and industry endorsement. Academy graduates also will accumulate a portfolio of digital projects completed during their time at the specialized computer school.
