Pflugerville Journalism Students Make Headlines Of Their Own At Awards Meet

PFLUGERVILLE, TX -- Stop the presses: Pflugerville journalism students have earned some serious awards at both the state and national levels.

The Pflugerville High School newspaper, titled the Panther Prowler, and the Hendrickson High School yearbook, The Talon, both earned Silver Star awards from the Interscholastic League Press Conference, as reported in the Pflugerville Pflag community newspaper.

The ILPC is a statewide conference under the auspices of the University Scholastic League.

The two schools also garnered 50-plus individual awards in various categories, the Statesman notes. Some of those wins came in news writing, feature writing, column writing and photography. There was one honorable metion for Sara Herrera in the Sports Feature Photo category.

Hendrickson students were also bestowed honors from the National Scholastic Press Association.
