Pflugerville Man Arrested After Prompting School Lock-Down While Walking With Shotgun
'It's a great day for a divorce!' the man shouted while walking near a park and prompting a nearby elementary school to go on lock-down.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX -- A man carrying a shotgun while shouting "It's a great day for a divorce!" Thursday morning prompted an elementary school to go on lock-down before police took the man in, according to a published report.
The incident began shortly after midnight, when a woman dialed 911 to report her husband, 19-year-old Killough Smith, had been taking drugs inside their home on the 19600 block of Maiden Grass Drive, the Austin American-Statesman reported. According to a media release on the incident, the woman told police Smith had assaulted her during an argument.
When police arrived at the home, they found marijuana and other drug-related paraphernalia. Killough had already gone, so police left. But at about 8:30 a.m. police got another call of a man walking near Mallard Pond Park carrying a shotgun while shouting the divorce reference, according to the media release.

The shouting is what led nearby Murchison Elementary School to ban in-and-out foot traffic for 3o minutes, according to the Statesman. Police caught up with the man and he told them he hid the firearm, ammunition and butane tanks in the woods to keep his wife from them, according to the statement.
Police weren't able to figure out what charge to lodge, so they left again.

But about two hours later, someone from an alarm company called police to tell them they had overheard an argument while calling about an alarm activation. That call prompted cops to go to the home again, when they determined the suspect was under the influence of some sort of drug.
While police were at the home, the woman told them she had been assaulted from the previous altercation and added that she wanted to press charges. The Statesman reported the man subsequently was arrested and charged with assault family violence, a Class A misdemeanor, and possession of a controlled substance, a state jail felony.
