Pflugerville Man Dies in Crash Near Dripping Springs

The crash occurred on U.S. 290 in Hays County.

A Pflugerville man was killed and two Austin residents were taken to the hospital after a crash on U.S. 290 about halfway between Dripping Springs and Austin.

Howard Baker, 55, of Pflugerville, was found dead on the scene of Wednesday’s crash, DPS spokeswoman Robbie Barrera told the Austin American-Statesman. The two Austin residents, Pete Berrien III, 69, and Gloria Berrien, 67, suffered fractured bones and were taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge, officials said.

Baker’s Chevrolet Malibu veered into oncoming traffic on the highway when it collided with the Berrien’s Ford F-150, officials told the newspaper.

Police are still investigating the crash are are not sure why Baker drove his car into the oncoming traffick.
