Pflugerville May Make Mask Wearing Mandatory Amid Coronavirus
An emergency meeting on face coverings to help blunt illness spread is set for Tuesday, and residents will be able to air their views.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — The Pflugerville City Council is scheduled to convene virtually on Tuesday for an emergency meeting to discuss and consider action related to requring residents to wear face coverings to help blunt spread of the coronavirus, officials said.
The virtual meeting scheduled on Tuesday at 7 p.m. will be accessible via WebEx. Residents are able to listen and watch the meeting in the following ways:
- Via WebEx: Register for the meeting at https://pflugervilletx.webex.com/pflugervilletx/onstage/g.php?MTID=ef9a0883d9b5aefe3287d6186784e11af (Meeting Code: 146 464 3874).
- Via telephone: Call 1-408-418-9388 (U.S. Toll) for listen-only mode.
- Via PfTV: Watch live at pflugervilletx.gov/pftv or the City’s Public Access Channel 17.
Public comment will only be allowed via telephone or video conference on WebEx, city officials said, and all speakers must register to speak at least two hours in advance of the meeting. All public comment will occur at the beginning of the meeting under the public comment item, officials added. Speakers must call in at least 15 minutes prior to the meeting start in order to speak.

Written comments may also be submitted two hours in advance of the meeting. To register to speak or to submit written comments, please email citysecretary@pflugervilletx.gov.

City officials noted that an audio recording of the virtual meeting will be made, and will be available to the public in accordance with the Open Meetings Act upon written request.

Should Pflugerville make the wearing of protective masks mandatory, the city will join a growing list of communities to take the measure in light of growing illness rates. On Monday, Cedar Park, Leander and Round Rock all implemented heightened requirements amid the growing rate of a respiratory illness for which there is no vaccine.
