Pflugerville Middle School Seeks Donations For New, Updated Marquee
Cedar Park-based Texas Custom Signs is helping the school devise a new sign.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX -- Wanted: $18,000 for a new marquee at Pflugerville Middle School.
Members of the school's parent-teacher organization are asking the community for contributions to replace the old sign, reports the Pflugerville Pflag newspaper. PTO President Sue Lee Flores told the newspaper the school lacks the budget to replace the aging sign, which is located in such a manner that it's not a focal point for the community as it should be.
“The current marquee is embedded near the top of the building, which was built with the school 30 years ago,” she told the newspaper. "Nobody can reach up there for safety reasons. It’s not even digital, it’s manual, and you need a certain ladder to get up there.”

Given its non-digital status, the sign has had the same message written on it for what seems forever now: Check the school website for updates.
Flores told the Pflag the PTO has reached out to Cedar Park-based Texas Custom Signs to create a new sign. But the school is required to pay at least half the cost before planning, purchase and installation can begin, she said.

All donations to make a new marquee a reality are tax-deductible given the PTO's nonprofit status, she told the Pflag. Those wishing to contribute can reach her at pto78660@gmail.com.
